The owners of Eco Bay Chalet wanted to create a distinct and high-end year-round retreat that balanced modern design with the natural Muskoka landscape. The goal was a durable, low-maintenance exterior that felt warm and inviting, rather than overly contemporary, with a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor living spaces. The exterior also needed to be visually continuous across the Chalet’s large 5,800-square-foot chalet, using texture and colour to add dimension and character.
Bellara Plank was selected for its resemblance to natural wood, while creating a refined and seamless exterior. The realistic woodgrain found in Bellara Plank’s colour Natural Maple combined with Matte Ebony created depth and contrast for increased architectural definition, while the wood-inspired finish kept the overall look cohesive and grounded in the Muskoka landscape. The result was a soft-industrial exterior; modern through clean lines and details, but warm and organic through its wood-like appearance.
Bellara’s wood grains are designed to mimic natural wood through various high-resolution wood grain patterns that, when installed, creates a randomized and natural variation as you would expect to see in real wood siding.
As a year-round retreat, Eco Bay Chalet serves as a gathering place for families, wellness retreats, and corporate groups looking to get away and connect with nature. The property’s architecture and exterior materials help the owners and guests feel welcome both in the chalet and it’s surrounding environment.
